Effective Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

Interactive workshops
Practical to your aims
Tailored to your organisation
Online or in-person

Our course for running an effective ERGs provides groups and individuals with the information and skills necessary to establish and manage a successful ERG.

It equips individuals with the skills to lead confidently, set clear goals, and keep members engaged. It helps ensure communication is inclusive, participation is encouraged, and the group delivers lasting value in accordance with its Terms or Reference (ToR). The most in-demand area of the session is setting up the ToR.

Without training, at least for chairs or leads, ERGs risk losing direction and failing to achieve their purpose. Poor facilitation can lead to low engagement, wasted effort, disengaged members and conflict.

If working with an already established ERG, areas can include:

  • Terms of reference
  • The role of the Chair/lead
  • Reporting and communicating feedback, impact and activities to stakeholders
  • Engagement and impact measurement
  • Navigating sensitive issues and challenges: Skill development and group agreements

If this is delivered in the early stages of setup, the areas covered can include:

  • The purpose and benefits of ERGs
  • Establishing a successful group
  • Resources, roles, and senior sponsorship
  • Maintaining momentum and purpose
  • Creating inclusive events and activities
  • Skill development

Skill development section on navigating potential challenges, such as managing conflicts, dealing with disclosures and addressing sensitive issues or difficult behaviour.

  • Established ERGs
  • Chairs/Leads of different ERGs across the organisation - supporting consistency
  • Working groups looking to set up one or more ERGs with a solid foundation

“I had the great fortune to have worked with Donna Carty over a three-year period whilst at Shakespeare's Globe and beyond. Donna developed a programme of truly inspiring, thought provoking and also challenging training for colleagues at all levels of the organisation and also assisted with policy development and strategic consultancy. I could not recommend Donna more highly to any organisation who are serious and intentional about developing and then implementing their approaches to achieving a more inclusive workplace."
Esther Joseph
Team Manager Autism
"Priscilla spoke at our #LondonVirtualAutisticConference2 - over 1200 people signed up for the event and the feedback on Priscilla's presentation has been outstanding. We have since been recommending schools to view Priscilla's presentation as she gave some very practical ideas as to how school staff can better support Neurodivergent young people in their care. I would definitely recommend Priscilla and would like to hire her again to speak directly to our school staff and colleges. She is relatable, knowledgeable and a good public speaker"

"The outcomes of the first session feel very achievable and this was testament to Donna pitching the level of consultation excellently. There was some constructive consideration, all of which was handled with great care and respect but ultimately I have come away feeling empowered to make the changes we discussed".
