Disability Equality at Work

The Disability Equality course educates individuals on the core principles of disability equality and how to promote inclusion and accessibility for disabled people.

Topics covered include:

  • The social model of disability
  • Disability rights
  • Legal requirements including reasonable adjustments in the workplace and public spaces.
  • The impact of ableism, privilege, and unconscious bias
  • Hand how to recognise and challenge attitudes and structures that unfairly discriminate against disabled people  
  • Identifying and removing barriers to accessibility and inclusion
We provide practical strategies for creating accessible communication and environments, and explore strategies to effectively consult, engage with and support disabled staff, customers and other stakeholders.   

This course is created and delivered by experienced trainers who identify as disabled people and are disability advocates and activists.

Gender Equality and Inclusion

Our Gender Equality course provides participants with an outline of the principles of gender equality and builds vital skills in promoting inclusivity and eliminating unfair discrimination based on gender.  Our training covers essential topics, including gender bias (conscious and unconscious), stereotypes, and gender identity.  It examines the effect of gender discrimination on people with a range of gender identities and looks at the impact on individuals, organisations and society.  Participants will learn about the gender pay gap, the bidirectional and intersectional effects of gender stereotyping, and how to recognise and address gender-based harassment, sexual harassment, and physical and psychological violence. 

The session provides practical guidance on the following:
  • how to recognise and address gender-based discrimination and harassment
  • how to create policies and procedures that support gender equality
  • gender-v-sex, and use of pronouns
  • the fundamental legal obligations and frameworks related to gender equality
The course also includes practical strategies for promoting gender equality in service provision, including identifying and addressing gendered biases in service delivery.

LGBTQI+ Equality

LGBTQI+ advocates have developed our LGBTQI+ Equality course to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to promote equality, safety, inclusion, and respect for individuals belonging to the diverse group often referred to as "LGBTQI+".

The session can include the following (depending on session length):
  • The history and the current issues facing the LGBTQ+ community in the UK (and abroad if appropriate for your organisation)
  • The impact of discrimination and bias
  • How to promote LGBTQI+ equality in different settings, including the workplace, education, and healthcare
  • LGBTQI+ identities
  • Terminology
  • The impact of discrimination on LGBTQI+ individuals' including mental and physical health
  • How to recognise and address heteronormativity and unconscious bias concerning the LGBTQI+ group
  • Relevant legislation and policy, including the Equality Act and the Public Sector Equality Duty (if appropriate).
Participants will reflect on some lived experiences of individuals belonging to the LGBTQI+ group and gain practical strategies for promoting inclusivity, demonstrating allyship and challenging discrimination.  
Through this session, individuals can develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective advocates for LGBTQI+ rights, working towards creating an organisation where all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, feel valued and respected.
Training course on Neurodivergence in the Workplace

Neurodivergence in the Workplace

The Neurodivergence in the Workplace training is designed to provide employers and colleagues with the understanding and skills necessary for creating a supportive and neuro inclusive workplace; one which enables people with neurodivergent and neurominority conditions to feel valued, respected, and more psychologically safe to the benefit of all staff.  

The course includes, all with intersectional perspectives:
  • The daily impact of neurodivergent conditions, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia and OCD (as well as common co-occurring mental health conditions),
  • The varied manifestations of neurodivergence alongside cultural factors
  • How to identify and avoid some common misconceptions, myths and stereotypes. 
  • Typical strengths and skills of neurodivergent individuals
  • Recognise and address common potential barriers to inclusion for neurodivergent individuals
  • Guidance on language
  • The social model of disability
Through facilitated discussions via case studies, the course aims to enable attendees to be more confident and proactive in dealing with the distinct needs of neurodivergent colleagues and providing a genuinely inclusive environment which respects the complexity of neurodivergent people’s lives and identities.

Race: Anti-Racism

Our anti-racism session is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the complex issues surrounding racism and how to actively work towards dismantling it.  

The course includes:
  • Defining race and racial identity
  • History and impact of systemic racism
  • Racial bias - how unconscious is it?
  • Privilege, power, harassment and cultural appropriation.
  • Recognising and challenging racist attitudes and behaviours
  • Consulting with racialised groups safely
  • Effective, power-based allyship
  • Significance of a robust anti-racist framework
